Has anybody been there yet?  Spurr was practically raving about it in his review in todays Herald.   I checked out the website www.lickthebone.com and menu and am looking forward to a visit soon.

Mmmmm Mmmmmm good old southern BBQ right here in Halifax.  I can't wait to get some of those ribs .

I know someone who makes a point of  trying all BBQ joints when he travels.  such as Smoque in Chicago.  He gave it an OK  but still he is a BBQ snob so I suspect it is good.

A few things turn me off just checking out the website... the plastic utensils, the 'hillbilly' tone of the place with the horribly cutesy misspellings and the fact the whole menu reads like a list of a cardiac patient's do-not-eat foods. I can't make a meal out of just meat and fatty foods... 20 years ago, sure; but nowadays I just can't do it. I hope they do really well as the more variety we have in Halifax the better, it just strikes me as copying some of the southern US stuff we see on TV. I'm not sure it will translate well here.

I know the BBQ joints like to play off on the poor run down joint but it sounds like they went too far .  Smoque in Chicaga gets all kinds of rave reviews for the food and yes its realtively new but it too is a hole in the wall ( closed Mondays) and you are crammed in in a very small footprint.  Many are overraretd like the Barby Barn in Montreal.

At this Boneheads what are the baked beans like.  Ay SMOQUE they were the best beans I have ever had by a mile
