OH gawd - It is so cold out tonight I hope they find her. She is Austistic and is shy about people meaning she may have found a hiding place. I hope its a warm one. Very cold .

After supper, I received an email from my councillor. Debbie Hum issued her own sort of mini Amber Alert to every one in the area on her email list. I know many of you will poo poo this effort as a waste of her time and misuse of her position, but I think it was a very good thing to do. She didn't ask us to go out and search for the missing girl, but did ask us to check with friends and family to see if they may have seen anything that might help. I don't know if this query by Debbie helped find the girl, but it certainly did not hurt.

I don't think anyone would think that MacDuff. Ms. Hum should be congratulated for going the extra mile on this. I'm relieved she is safe. |

That was an excellent thing to do! I hope that girl is okay. NOt a damn thing worng with her sending an email out giventhe circumstances - time could very well been extremely important. It was damn damn cold |

An autistic teenager missing and wandering in the cold almost 10 hours has been reunited with her family.
Jennifer Graves-Smith, 18, was last seen leaving Halifax West High School at 3:30 p.m. yesterday.
She was found safe and sound inside the lobby of a nearby apartment building at 1:10 a.m. today, Halifax Regional Police said in a news release this morning.
Paramedics at the scene assessed her and found her uninjured. She was then returned to her family, police said.
Police have determined that Ms. Graves-Smith had been wandering close to the school since about 3:30 p.m. yesterday.

I am happy that every one thinks this is a good use of her time and position. I only added that lines for those of you who have expressed how councillors should be working on the big picture and not being bothered by their constituents and local matters. |

I am happy that every one thinks this is a good use of her time and position. I only added that lines for those of you who have expressed how councillors should be working on the big picture and not being bothered by their constituents and local matters. OH I definitely agree with your point. The petty crap they deal with daily is enormous. I am not sure if they each have an assitant to filter the crap because if they dont it would be overwhelming. I mean people call their councillors for every little thing. |
